Two Smith’s Wood Sports College teachers ran the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday.

History teacher Mr Talbot and IT teacher Mr Jones embarked on the gruelling 26 mile challenge last weekend.

Mr Talbot has already raised £270 for Marie Curie. Mr Jones and his wife ran their first ever marathon to support the mental health charity “MIND” and in memory of Mr Jones’ best friend of over 50 years, who sadly passed away last year.

The pair trained  hard. Mr Jones said: “ We have been training since January, this has included joining the gym, swimming, cycling and taking part in “Park Runs” every Saturday morning at Cannon Hill Park. However the longest distance we have covered is only 5 – 6 miles, so covering 26.2 miles in one go was a real achievement.”
