ICT @ Smith’s Wood Sports College

Work Related Learning (WRL) is the College’s second specialism, and ICT is at the heart of everything we do in WRL.

The College has fantastic facilities, with 10 dedicated WRL Suites in the main building, plus a dedicated Sports ICT Suite in the Sports block.  Further to this, there are 6 open access areas with between 6 and 24 pc’s and 2 learning resource centres, with further access to pc’s.  A soon to be expanded, dedicated ICT support team help keep everything running.

In Key Stage 3 every student will receive 2 hours of specialist ICT teaching every week.  In Key Stage 4 ICT is a compulsory subject, with every student studying ICT for at least 1 hour a week, and at Key Stage 5 ICT remains one of the most popular options to follow post 16.

Key Stage 5 students also have access to 3 dedicated study rooms, each with a further 10 pc’s and a suite of laptops that can be moved to wherever they are needed.

Key Stage 4 results are excellent, with almost 100% of students hard work being rewarded with at least a C grade at GCSE.

The WRL Faculty has its own dedicated website to assist students with their work.  It can be accessed here.
