Step into worlds where the ordinary twists into the extraordinary. In these bite-sized tales, nothing is quite as it seems – doors lead somewhere unexpected, time slips, shadows whisper and reality bends in surprising ways. Each story captures a flash of mystery, suspense or wonder – from the eerie to the enchanting, the chilling to the curious. Written by young writers with vivid imaginations, Stranger Sagas is a celebration of creativity, courage and the thrill of the unknown.
Students from all years at Smith’s Wood Academy were challenged to write a mini-saga for a Young Writers competition. All entries had a maximum of 100 words and focused on tales that were mysterious, creepy or surprising. A fantastic 69 students were selected and have now become published authors!
Librarian Anna Kelcey said, “I am so proud of the hard word and creativity that these students have demonstrated and I hope it will encourage them to continue to develop their creative writing skills in the future. This was a challenging prompt and pupils definitely displayed ambition and resilience to rise to that challenge. The finalised books have been delivered this week and it has been so lovely to see pupils taking pride in their work, as well as seeing the excitement and encouragement they have received from their peers.”
We are looking forward to hearing who the overall winners of the competition are this term!
