Students in Year 7 and Year 10 recently took part in a hands-on Food and Mood workshop led by Amy Teichman, Head of Nutrition at Alliance in Partnership. The session explored how diet directly impacts mental wellbeing and focus, giving students a clear understanding of the link between nutrition and learning.
The workshop broke down the role of macronutrients, helping students understand how carbohydrates support steady energy, proteins contribute to feel good brain chemicals and fats aid concentration and memory.
Students then put theory into practice through tasting activities, sampling nutrient rich foods including chia seeds and berries. These experiences helped them discover simple ways to maintain stable energy levels and support a positive mood throughout the day.
Year 7 students particularly enjoyed the interactive elements, while Year 10 students focused on how nutrition can support them during exam periods. The session reinforced an important message that healthy eating plays a key role in both wellbeing and academic success
