Students from across the Trust recently enjoyed a once‑in‑a‑lifetime chance to step behind the scenes at a major motorsport event during an exciting visit to Donington Park.
Our Year 9 and 10 students were given special access on Friday 17 April – the day before the British Touring Car Championships (BTCC) – which meant they got to see the buzz of race‑day preparation up close. From the race car workshop to the pit areas, they were able to watch teams fine‑tuning cars, organising equipment and getting everything ready for the weekend ahead.
The students also had the chance to meet professional racing drivers, Gordon Shedden and Árón Taylor‑Smith, who took time out of their schedules to chat, answer questions and sign autographs. It was a brilliant way for students to connect what they learn in the classroom with real‑world engineering, teamwork and problem‑solving.
