Thursday 6th March was Year 9 Aspire to Aston Day where twenty-five Smith’s Wood (SWA) Students on the Aspire to Aston Program got the chance to experience life as a Uni student.
Aston treated them to an amazing day and SWA students enjoyed all the perks and positive vibes that higher education offer. Students had an amazing tour of this City based Uni and were genuinely shocked by what is on offer. Aston have a 24hr Library, on suite living dormitories, two gyms, swimming pool, shops, bars, and restaurants all less than 5 mins walk from lessons. Aston demonstrated that all SWA students could achieve their dream jobs by considering staying in education when they leave school.
All students commented after the visit that they felt more content to consider staying in education long after they leave Smith’s Wood.
These students are on this programme for the next two years and can look forward to going back to Aston next year in year 10 to carry on their learning journey.
