At Smith’s Wood Academy our focus on improving literacy in and out of the classroom continues this year with a number of our students entering the Young Writers National Writing Competition.
Our talented writers from Year’s 8 and 10 entered the “Poetry Escape” or “Empowered” themed creative writing competitions and have been awarded Young Writers certificates for their winning entries. This is a huge achievement, with 7 of our students being published for their short stories, and poetry work.
This is a national competition and to be published is highly prestigious. Only a select number of entries can be published, so for our amazing students this is a fantastic opportunity to have their voices heard and to have their hard work acknowledged. We are immensely proud of them.
