Smith’s Wood Academy is a vibrant, ambitious school that belongs to the Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) family of academies.
Whilst we celebrate our uniqueness, we share one mission, vision and set of values.
Our mission is to “enrich the lives and transform the futures” of every one of our students. We achieve this by ensuring our students access a broad and wide-ranging curriculum while being supported in a structured, kind and caring environment. Our students have access to lots of extra-curricular opportunities because we place great emphasis on their personal development.
The five core values of the FMAT are:

- Integrity: moral purpose will underpin the curriculum decisions we make for our pupils

These values are modelled daily by staff and rewarded when demonstrated in students.
Our aim is to ensure that provision at Smith’s Wood Academy allows all students to maximise levels of achievement both inside and outside the classroom and for students to be given outstanding levels of care, support and guidance as they navigate their way through the various key stages in their preparation for future career pathways.
Our extra-curricular programme is varied and comprehensive, enabling students to participate in activities ranging from sporting, academic and hobby based; these activities engage and enthuse students and develop talent and confidence. With the benefit of being a PFI build, we have available a wide range of modern, state of the art facilities for students to utilise.
We will all work together to ensure your children get the best education possible, with an aim to ensure each and every child reaches their individual potential and is well equipped for the next stage of their life beyond our Academy. Alongside this are the highest of expectations for your children, unwavering standards of behaviour and etiquette that depict the culture and ethos of the Academy.
