Admissions to Smith's Wood Academy

Smith’s Wood is an Academy and is part of Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT). It caters for students from the ages of 11 to 16 years of age. Our published admissions number for students is 210.

Smith’s Wood Academy is consulting on its admission arrangements for 2026-2027 from 4th November to 16th  December 2024.

New and in-year admissions

To apply for a place at the academy, an application must be made using the admission service provided by Solihull Local Authority. Apply via the Solihull MBC website.

 

Please inform us if you are considering an application for a place at Smith’s Wood.  We would be delighted to give you and your child a tour of the academy and answer any questions you may have. Our academy prospectus gives you a flavour of what life is like at Smith’s Wood Academy.

Appeals

If you are not offered a place at this school you have the right of appeal against the decision not to allocate a place to your child.  Appeals are heard by an independent panel.  You can get an appeal form from Solihull Council website

Your appeal will be heard within the following timetable:

Deadline for receipt of your written appeal: Your appeal will be heard by:
Secondary places for children starting in September 2024
12th April 2024
Appeals will be heard by: 17th June 2024 (if possible)
Change of school (application at any time other than normal intake)
20 school days after your outcome letter
30 school days after your appeal form has been received or as soon as reasonably practical

Appeals received after the deadline will be heard within the schedule, if possible. However, if the form is received in late June the appeal may not be heard until after the school summer holidays.  Appeals are not heard during the school holidays.
