Student Leadership at Smith's Wood Academy
Our vision is for every student to leave as a resilient learner, respectful citizen, and ambitious individual, prepared to flourish in life and contribute positively to society.
Student leadership at Smith’s Wood Academy plays a key part in fulfilling our vision. By taking on responsibilities, students learn resilience as they navigate challenges, adapt to change, and persevere in supporting their peers. They demonstrate ambition by setting high standards for themselves and others, inspiring the school community to strive for excellence. Most importantly, our school leaders model respect. They listen to different voices and work collaboratively to make Smith’s Wood Academy a joyful place to be.
Students can develop their leadership skills through becoming part of the:
· Student Council
· Prefects (year 11)
· Community Group
· Culture and Diversity Group
· Sports Captains
· Student Librarians
· Duke of Edinburgh Award
· Outreach Volunteering Project
· Assisting at events
If your child is interested in becoming a student leader, please ask them to speak to Mrs Huckstep who will happily support.
